Another officer asked me, “Will you be doing a write up for ‘Today at the dod'” – I had heard about it but never actually seen it before so I will wing it.
Day 1:2026 – It was great to travel up to Llandrindod and witness the hard work that the officers put in to make these events possible and seeing quality games of bowls, this year was different, not just for me being there but the introduction of live streaming for Welsh Lawn Bowls and the introduction of a new digital scoring system which allows our volunteer(s) to update the website at the tap of a button from any device.
The first final was played on Day 1 and it was the Berriew quartet who walked away the Womens Over 55s Fours Champions.

Day 2:2026 – an even busier today with some fantastic bowls being played from all competitors which saw 3 more finals take place
Merthyr West End overcome a strong Graig Merthyr side to be crowned the 2026 Carruthers Shield Champion, this was a closely fought match right until the very end. The Wildcats noise and support was incredible and shows how much passion and what it means to them to win.

Berriew also returned to the spotlight by making it to the final of the Womens Double Rink, they overcome Lampeter 34-27 in the semi-final.
Final Scores; 41-27 against Llandrindod Wells
